What the reference actually shows
The shared post by @otabek.builds points to Halo: a native Mac island for notifications, dictation, calls, meetings, and agent status. The post presents a hypothetical Apple acquisition; it is not evidence of one.
The public site demonstrates a compact notch, hover expansion, session status, and a character that reflects activity. Halo’s guides describe local files for agent events. These are documented behaviors, not findings from its private native source.

A single top-anchored surface changes size. Compact mode carries identity and state. The expanded panel adds context and actions. Hover is temporary; clicking pins it. Motion shares one origin, so the expansion reads as one object.
Our reducer keeps the newest event per source and session. Failure and attention outrank background work. Completion lasts ten seconds. Expired work becomes unknown, never silently successful. Duplicate and older events are rejected.
This study uses an original CSS shell and local event reducer. The included native source uses SwiftUI content inside an AppKit panel. Dimensions and animation here are our choices.
Where this belongs in Companion
First: Meridian and Forge status, blocked work, fresh evidence, and a direct route to the owning session. This reduces checking while keeping the reason for an interruption visible.
Next: calendar countdowns with EventKit and explicit event links. Voice comes after the attention model works. The same event model can later drive iPhone Live Activities; a Mac overlay alone does not create that integration.
The next acceptance gate is one real event from each agent appearing on a Mac, preserving urgency, expiry, session identity, and its destination.
Build status and source trail
Web specimen: self-contained, offline, simulated events. Review acknowledges a demo interruption only. It does not approve tools or touch running agents.
Native source: supplied as a Swift package with a local JSONL input adapter. It requires compilation and interaction testing on a Mac. Notification capture, calendar, microphone, and cross-device delivery are separate integrations.
Reconstruction is independent. No Halo images or source code are bundled.
